I came across this video on one of my gf's facebook pages and suddenly can NOT get enough of it! The video  is the perfect mix of pure radness and creepy!

• cuddled up next to finn while he watches the sandlot and i blog.
• contemplating what I need to do career wise.
• planning to tidy up the house... hopefully tonight.
• dreaming about my new engagement ring! my original has become somewhat fragile, so jeff and i agreed to get a second, more sturdy accompanying ring.
• excited for the next couple weekends! my birthday this weekend, finn's the next!
• a little stressed about the things left on my '30 before 30' list not yet accomplished!
• feeling bitter sweet that my baby will soon be TWO! ugh!
• wondering why finn hates baths so much right now.
• happy that the days are getting warmer and longer!
• feeling content - lots of things just seem to be falling into their perfect place!
• sending so much love to the ones I love the most! xo

friends forever

Our wonderful friends Ami and Patrick have recently come back to Calgary after a year of traveling. They spent the last 12 months in New Zealand and parts of Australia learning, growing, and finding their perfect little lot in life. Calgary is a much too brief stop before they head back to Ontario, nearer to family, to settle down. It has been a jam packed couple of weeks filled with many get togethers, wonderful meals and LOTS of stories. Part of me is so unbelievably sad at the thought of them moving away from us again, but I am more excited for them to be able to grow roots. To find a home they will do truly amazing things with. To visit and reconnect (like these last few weeks) many many times in the future.

Last night we had an awesome night over at Ashley and Heather's house. They run a natural building business hosting workshops on everything from cob ovens to making your own natural clay plasters. Needless to say, we had a great time in their garden making cob oven pizza, sharing beers and mead, and basking in the warmth of the roaring fire. The weather was just a touch chilly, but perfect for cuddling up next to each other and talking the night away.

finn and i were a little bored on saturday afternoon - he slept late and i was a tad stir crazy wishing we were out seed hunting at seedy saturday (though i was very grateful he was able to catch up on some serious sleep). when he finally woke, we shared a spinach and feta omelet, some giggles, and then took a bunch of photobooth pictures. below are a couple of my favourites.

Finn is SUCH a ham in front of the camera now - always saying 'CHEEEEEESE' with the goofiest look on his face!

a few wedding things...

i have been a little unmotivated to do wedding stuff lately - my life has been a bit hectic (nothing new) and it feels too early to do a lot of the things i am really excited for. however, over the last few days i have discovered an amazing little site called polyvore - a free, easy-to-use web-based application for mixing and matching images from anywhere to create fashion looks. needless to say, i have spent the better part of the last two days creating inspiration boards for my bridesmaids and jeff's groomsmen. ridiculously fun! and so i thought i would share with all of you!

tiny treasures: a few good chairs

I absolutely love chairs. old, dirty, chipped paint, creaky, unsteady - all these things make my heart swoon, so naturally, we have more than a few chairs kicking around our place (and more than a few more hiding in my parents basement). Here are a couple of my favourites-

The blue chair was found in a dumpster in our alley. The red chair came from a garage sale for $1. I originally planned to sand it down and repaint it, but as the years have gone on, I have grown to very much love the red.

This little chair is my my absolute favourite. It has really pretty carvings on the back rest and is perfectly creaky and wobbly like only a 50 year old chair can be.

The chair on the left was found at a vintage shop in Bragg Creek during my girlfriend Ami's pre-wedding weekend getaway. It was a bit of an ordeal to get it home (i actually bought two chairs on that trip and had to fit both of them plus three girlfriends and all of our stuff in the trunk), but I love the interesting details on the back and the rounded seat. The little orange chair came from my favourite junk shop here in town - I credit this chair with starting my collection (addiction?).

Sweet Dreams

I have a board on Pinterest called 'sweet dreams are made of these'. In the beginning, I didn't really think too much about it, but as time has gone on, 'sweet dreams' has become a dumping ground for all the images of things I deeply love, but that are probably less attainable (or require more planning) than a pair of boots or a stack of beautiful quilts. Bigger things. Dreamy things. My idea of perfect things.

A few repetitive themes that continue to pop up...

Volkswagon Westfalia Camper Vans

I have definitely talked about my love of VW camper vans before (maybe a little too much), but I have this huge dream of packing up our little family and hitting the road. Going North, the West Coast, Mexico, the East Coast... really anywhere the wind takes us. I imagine homeschooling Finn while we venture around stopping anywhere we please, visiting family and making new friends along the way. Morning coffees and snuggles while we breath in fresh ocean/ mountain/ river/ great lake air followed by a brand new day of adventures waiting for us to discover. I honestly cant think of anything that even comes close to how amazing this would be.


A home to call our own

My mom (endearingly) teases me about my obsession with small homes. The smaller the better as far as I am concerned. I also really want to physically build a house for us to live in- incorporating many natural building techniques and reclaimed materials - a home that would have minimal impact on the surrounding environment and cost significantly less than traditional building methods. I also have an undying love for A-frames. My heart flutters every time I see one!

An amazing urban farm
I want a food forest where we grow so much we cant help but share. I want bees and chickens, maybe even a goat! I want a beautiful greenhouse and a cob oven to bake bread in. I want an outdoor space that will nourish us- with both food in our bellies and fullness in our souls.
